Engine Removal

It's been a couple of weeks and I've been working on the Z as much as possible. Below are some pics, with much consternation, I've finally gotten the engine out.

I've talked to a guy at the local machine shop and once I get the engine down to the block I'll be bringing it and the cylinder head over to those guys to get the guts of the motor worked on. I'm still waffling on what to do with it but I'm leaning toward going with a big bore stroker at first and keeping my options open to possibly supercharge at a later time once I get it running.

Here's what the gutted engine bay looks like. I'll be taking everything out of here and removing rust/painting all the inside of the engine compartment.

Here's a few shots of the motor. Thanks again to my neighbor for letting me borrow his engine hoist.

Here are the casting numbers of the engine block and cylinder head:

The F54 engine block is supposedly the one with the reinforced cylinder walls which should help with going with the bigger bore.

The P79 cylinder head is apparently identical to the coveted P90 cylinder head in every way, except the P79 has flanges (see above) in the exhaust outlets that supposedly helped with emissions. Some believe that they reduce airflow, others claim that there is no reduction. For now, I'm not going to worry about it and pending it not being cracked and/or warped I'm going to use it.
